Hey everyone. Let's just keep the ball rolling and go for some more questions. Kudos to gettoknowu.com for all of their awesome questions!


What was the first professional sporting event you went to?
- The earliest one I can remember is a Twins game shortly before or after a summer retreat when I was in high school. I'm not one to go to live sports ball times.

What movie scares you?
- Hmm... there are movies that scare me, don't get me wrong, but I can't think of a good example. I definitely don't like the movies that outright show the gory stuff that's realistic enough to make me cringe.

What makes you feel old?
- Well, I own still-functioning video game systems that are as old as my student staff... and I remember being in elementary school when my dad got it for my sister and me.

What holiday has lost its true meaning?
- Alright, even though I talk about odd holidays everyday, I'm going to follow the spirit of this question. As I've gotten older, there have been changes in how I celebrate holidays and what I feel leading up to them. I don't know if I would say "these holidays have lost their meaning", but the two that feel like they have changed the most are Easter and Thanksgiving. In recent years, I've been trying to be more deliberate about pumping up Halloween before it whisks by and goes straight into early Christmas mode.

Who taught you to swim?
- A swim instructor. For some reason, I got really afraid of the water in elementary school-ish, so I remember taking multiple swimming classes to help me through that fear.

What was the last thing you donated to a thrift store?
- I feel like it was books, but I'm not 100% sure.

What did you have for Sunday dinner growing up?
- The same type of food we would have at other dinners. Sunday dinners weren't a special thing in my family, regardless if you're referring to dinner as lunch or dinner as supper.

What is something you have always wanted to try?
- Oh, I don't know. I guess I'm thinking ahead to New Year's plans with my college friends, because cross-country skiing came to mind. I've gone downhill skiing before, but I think cross-country would be much more serene.

If you had to move what city would you like to live in?
- Minneapolis, no problem. If I couldn't go back to the Cities, I think I'd want to give Milwaukee a try.

If you could hire out one household chore what would it be?
- Doing dishes, no second guessing needed, especially silverware because it feels so tedious.

Who taught you to ride a bike?
- My dad, and I remember tiny snippets from that experience, but not much.

Is there a sport you love to play but hate to watch?
- Not really. I'm not one for sports and if I'm watching sports, there are probably talented athletes out there making it entertaining and fast-paced.

What was your favorite bed time story as a child?
- My mom read the Little House on the Prairie books to me and those were good times. I can't say I remember much of the actual books, but definitely remember those nights.

Who do you admire as a leader?
- My old dean, Dr. Cleo.

What would you like to know more about?
- I think I know a decent amount of it in theory, but I'd love to know more about making the realization and actually starting to lucid dream on command.

What music are you embarrassed that you like listening to?
- A younger me would be embarrassed that there are days when I enjoy some country music.

What place would you like to visit?
- Bruges, Belgium.

When have you seen Karma at work in your life?
- I can't really think of a time, to be honest. No juicy stories from me on this one.

Who was your first love?
- First love could mean a lot of things, so not sure how to take it. I will admit that I had a childhood crush on Emma Thompson in her portrayal as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing.

What food have you eaten too much of in your life?
- Pickles, because I find them nasty and eating one pickle is one too many.

What is the last thing in your life that went according to plan?
- My trip to NerdCon: Stories this past weekend actually. The only thing that seemed to waver was connecting with some college friends for some late night games. Oh, and road construction that same night. Other than that, everything else seemed to go very well including driving between the convention & hotel.

What food did you used to like but now hate?
- I like that this question turned the expected question on its head. I definitely don't hate it now, but compared to my childhood, I'm not as big of a fan of string cheese by itself. (However, roll it into crescent rolls and bake? So good.)

What phrase or idiom do you think is makes no sense?
- A couple of my co-workers use the phrase "a horse a piece", which is generally the same as "six of one, half dozen of the other". Apparently the horse phrase started in the Milwaukee area, so it makes sense that the two co-workers who use it are from the area.


Alright, another round of fun questions. I'm not sure how many questions are left, but I definitely need to thank whoever runs the website I mentioned above because the questions have been interesting, diverse, and thought-provoking.
