Long Weekend 2015 - Day 1

Hey everyone. I can already tell that this weekend is going to fly by quickly. Take today for example. After the long road trip here, I picked Michelle up from the airport and immediately went to check into the convention. We met up with some online friends that we had never met in person and then went to a nearby game store. After a ridiculous card game, Michelle and I decided that checking into the hotel would be our best course of action. After some road construction and a stressful drive, we quickly dropped our stuff at the hotel, grabbed some food, and turned right back around to meet up with college friends of mine for more gaming. We played a few rounds of a game with them and then came back to the hotel to crash... and by that I mean work on grad school, blog, etc.

I think the important thing to remember is that yes, there is a lot to do. However, the point of a vacation is to have fun and get away from the stress. Michelle and I had a lot of fun gaming and spending time with people, but we felt like time just slipped away. Plus, it doesn't help that the convention will be a long day and we're not exactly getting to bed "early".

I'm not sure what I'm trying to get at with my rambling, but I figured I should share. Sorry for jumping all over the place, but I do need to wrap this up and get some sleep. Tomorrow will be National Chess Day and... wait. Tomorrow is Leif Erikson Day? Darn it, I mixed it up again! Anyway, hooray for a Nordic historical figure.
