Hey everyone. So, one of the reasons I've been blogging on a daily basis is to capture the little moments that pop up day to day. Obviously there are days where very little happens that provokes a thoughtful blog and then there's random Tuesdays... Wednesdays.... both? In any case, blogging about the daily stuff doesn't happen all the time. There are some days when I could go really in-depth about what's going through my head or what's happening in front of me... but I don't.
I could easily list a few reasons why something of importance wouldn't show up in a blog, but one that I'm focusing on now is what I'm going to call "pre-blogging". So, something happens and I think "that would make a good blog topic" or "this is important to my point in life. I should blog about it". Then I start the pre-blogging by imagining how I would explain the thought/situation via text. As I think about the situation more, I work through some of the details and will sometimes reach a conclusion of sorts.
So then when I sit down at the computer and pull up a new blog page, I think "oh yeah, I was thinking about this, but eh, I've already gone through it". Then I try to pull something else together. I'm not a fan of rehashing the same story so typing up a situation after I've thought through it feels like I'm repeating myself, negating the fact that the second time would be for a blog.
Of course, I'm thinking about the concept of pre-blogging because it happened with something tonight. As I was assessing my personal to do list, I felt that I had spent too much of my weekend on personal endeavors. I did finish a grad school paper, helped run a get-together for my student staff, and got a haircut, but a lot of the weekend was also spent playing the game on my phone or tabletop with Gnome Game friends. Unfortunately, I found myself looking at upcoming bills, unread emails, and a messy desk and just felt like I needed to grow up. Michelle and I talked about it and again, I did some pre-blogging on my own, but I'm still not 100% settled in my thoughts. Obviously, I need to take personal time, but I can't keep putting off personal matters either.
I'm going to think on this more and get some sleep before Monday morning rolls around (which seemed surprisingly fast this time around). Tomorrow will be World Day of Bullying Prevention/ Blue Shirt Day, so I would assume that wearing blue would be in support of bullying prevention.
