Post-Deadline Relief

Tonight was definitely an example of how much I let deadlines loom over me. I had been putzing around today and working intermittently on an assignment for grad school that was due at midnight. As it got later, I was putting in more time and getting anxious. Michelle helped look it over and it got to the point where I said "this is as good as it's going to get" and submitted it, while still being quite critical of myself. Maybe 20 minutes later, I can tell my mood is better and I'm back to reminiscing about the Missouri Academy and stuff.

This is definitely not the first time this has happened. It actually happened on a semi-regular basis at the Missouri Academy and it happened again in the fall here when I was writing performance reviews for my RAs. A positive and negative with having external deadlines is that you can't push it off forever. Of course, that does mean there's a crush period where if you're not done, you still just have to go with it. In any case, I did all I needed for this past week of grad school and will try to avoid the crunch from happening again. I don't think there are any larger projects due this week, but to be honest, I'm going to figure that tomorrow.

Tomorrow's June... so that's weird. It's also Oscar the Grouch Day, National Go Barefoot Day, Say Something Nice Day... ooh and National Leave the Office Early Day. I wonder if my supervisor is aware of the various holidays.

DFTBA
