Bay Beach Adventures!

Since it was beautiful weather today, Michelle and I went to Bay Beach today, which is this little amusement park (apparently the 9th longest continuously open one) right on the lakeshore. 'Little' is a pretty notable word in that sentence, because it was pretty small, but it also had a quaintness about it. Plus, tickets were a quarter each with rides needing at most 4 tickets, with free admission & parking, and the food was reasonably priced too. So, it seems like the perfect spot to take a family, which is what a lot of families did today.

Growing up, there was were some rides and things at the lakefront in my hometown and Bay Beach did bring back some memories. There were enough differences where it wasn't deja vu or anything, but seeing the Tilt-a-Whirl reminded me of riding that with my dad one summer years ago.

We didn't end up staying for long, but had a nice little time while we were there. After that, we went to the nearby wildlife habitat, which was really cool!... except for the abundance of Canadian geese, including ones that were territorial about guarding nests. At first, we thought some geese had been following us because they thought we had food... nope. Definitely keeping eyes on us. After getting away from the geese, we did some walking through the woods and saw a lot of different animals that had been rescued from injuries or acquired after someone had them as a pet and then abandoned them.

Those were the two high points of the day, since the rest of the evening focused around grad school. I'm still trying to find a rhythm with making posts and replies in discussion boards for each of the classes, but I definitely feel in a better place than I was a week ago. The weather still looks good for tomorrow, so Door County is definitely the plan unless something drastically changes overnight.

Tomorrow is World Turtle Day, National Taffy Day, and both International Jazz Day and National Polka Day. I'd love to see a jazz polka, just to see how people would dance along.
