Random Tuesday is "the best..."

Hey everyone. So one of the reasons why I started Random Tuesday was that I had been used to Tuesdays being longer work days. In Missouri, a lot of weekly occurrences like staff meetings, Seminar/Colloquium, and wing meetings were always on Tuesdays the whole time I was there. Last year, my staff meeting with my RAs was also on Tuesdays although it didn't dip so far into the evening during the spring semester.

So then when I was wanting to blog on a daily basis, I wanted a way to detach from work and do a little mental stretching after a long work day. Thus, Random Tuesday was born. Now we're in a new academic year with a new staff... and we're meeting on Wednesdays. It's going to feel a little weird to not have the random blog on the same day as my staff meeting, but I think I'm going to stick with Random Tuesdays being on, you know, Tuesday.

With all of that out of the way, it's time for Random Tuesday. This week, I'll be asking myself...

What do I think is "the best..."?

Antivirus program: I can't say I've done a lot of research, but Norton seems to be holding up just fine for the time being (when it's not reminding me that "Oh yes! We will still be there when you upgrade to Windows 10! We'll be there! Watching..).

Banana bread: I don't have an exact recipe in mind, except it should be moist and without nuts.

Credit card: Up until I started working here, I only ever used Visa, which seems like the universally accepted one. My business card is a MasterCard, which hasn't given me any problems either. I'll still go with Visa though.

Day: I would first need to know if you mean a hypothetical best day or a best day from my past. Either way, it would be tough to pick just one. I'll get back to you on that one.

Emoji: I don't use emojis too often, so I'll keep it simple and go with :-P

Fantasy: I'm torn between Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

Games: Oh man. I don't think I'm ready to start this discussion this late. Instead, I will list some games that I want to play right now: Machi Koro, Sushi Go, Dead of Winter, Assassin's Creed 3, and Super Smash Bros.

Horror movie: I'm not a fan of pure horror movies, so I'd either go with horror/action (Resident Evil, sorta Cloverfield, District 9 kind of) or horror/comedy (Army of Darkness, Shaun of the Dead)

Ice cream: Mint Chocolate Chip sounds delicious and is one of my go-to flavors.

Job in the world: Hmm... there's no one answer. It's whatever makes you and those around you happy and (at least for me) helps make the world a better place.

Kept secret: Wait wait wait. If I tell you, then it wouldn't be the best kept secret, now would it? Duuhhhhh.

Love song: "No Air", although I go back and forth between the original by Jordin Sparks and the Glee cover. *pause* I'm going to go hide now.

Mosquito repellent: Well, don't eat bananas, wear earth tones, and other than that... bug spray?

Nerf gun: I haven't done that much dabbling, so I'd keep it simple and say either the Maverick (pistol) or bow and arrow.

Online games: Thinking about my activity Steam, Team Fortress 2 would only slightly edge out Garry's Mod.

Place in Milwaukee: I will swear that this was not a term I searched before, yet it did show up in my auto-complete options. I've only been to Milwaukee once and from that visit, my favorite place was the art museum that I don't remember the name but I remember bits and pieces from inside.

Quote about life: Well, my favorite is from John Green and I think it fits here: "In general - like not just in fiction but in life - it doesn't work out well when someone imagines someone else as a manic pixie dream girl or Edward Cullen or anything other than a full, complex human being."

Riddle: I usually lump lateral thinking puzzles in with riddles and so I'll go with the first one I ever heard in middle school - "If he would have seen the sawdust, he would still be alive today."

Show: Once again, I don't think we're ready for this conversation in full, but my votes would go towards Warehouse 13, Scrubs, and The Office, at the very least.

Thing I ever ate: Once again, it's tough to pick one thing that's the best, so I'll share a random food story. When I worked at a summer camp, a few of my fellow cabin counselors were international students, including one guy from Columbia. He wanted to be a chef after going through school and one week, he made homemade empanadas for the staff. It was quite good.

University in USA: OHMYGOSH this is the conversation I'm least prepared to start out of all of them so far. Similar to the job, there can't be one best place for everyone. You have to find your fit, which can depend on size, location, academic focus, and other important qualities. Yes, I'm saying this while working at an institution had has pride in national rankings, but as a student, you have to go to place where you will learn, you will grow, and you will be happy.

Vines: I've actually been watching more Vines now thanks to compilation videos on YouTube. The three people that I gravitate towards more are Thomas Sanders, Meghan McCarthy, and Aaron Doh.

Weather app: *spokesperson voice* For all my weather-related inquires, I go straight to the source at weather.com, the official site of the Weather Channel *spokesperson laugh*

Xbox 360 game: This is just from the games I've played, but I'm going with Portal 2, since I had incredible moments both in the one-player and co-op story modes.

Yes: Uh... the best yes? The one that yessed more yes than other yesses could even yes to yes. *pause* Yes.

Zombie movie: Hmm.. Oh! I forgot to include Zombieland in my previous assessment of horror/comedy movies, so I'll go with that. (Well that was easy.)

Alright, it's an early morning, so I need to get some shut eye. Tomorrow will be V-J Day, so take some time to remember the sacrifices of others yet also how every person in history has been just that, a person.

DFTBA
