Summer Storms

Hey everyone. Hmm... what to blog about today.... Ooh, I just heard some thunder off in the distance. Apparently there's a big system in the area, but it's glossed over campus so far. In fact, it looks like the strong parts of the system split on either side of De Pere.

I definitely enjoy the sounds of a thunderstorm, like rain hitting a window, or the low rumble of thunder that makes the air around you shudder. Growing up, we would usually open up windows when it was raining to help bring some cooler air in the house, so we got to listen to the storm at the same time. Of course, summer storms can be a little much, and there were summers where branches would be torn off by the wind.

When I was driving back here after visiting Missouri a month ago, I saw two giant thunderheads in the distance. It was dark out, but lighting would constantly light up the storm systems and there was at most five-second pauses between lightning. I ended up driving an hour or two into Wisconsin before the storm systems seem to move in the sky, so I can only imagine how big & slow it was. I know it could easily be scary, but part of me wonders what that type of storm would look like from the inside.

Well, I guess today's blog was about summer storms. Time to rest up for tomorrow, which will be Penny Press Day. If you're going to a park or other place with a penny press, go nuts today!
