When I publish a blog entry, I'm re-routed back to a lot of information about the posts on this blog. The thing that has been catching my eye recently is that I recently published my 400th blog (it was Pie Day actually). That's a little mind-boggling, since that's a lot of rambles, odd stories, and bland daily recounts. (On the other hand, it's been a while since I've had to say "sorry for not updating in weeks/months/years".)
As you can tell from the column on the right, I have been blogging since 2005, but many of the early years a relatively sparse. In fact, I'm at the point where 2015 has more entries than every other year except 2013 and it's not even April. In case you're wondering, 2013 was my last major go at daily blogging which started on my birthday and went until early July before an abrupt end.
I think this goes to show the power of little things adding up. Each entry is only a little tick, but clearly, they are coming together to be a storm of information. I'm definitely in that mindset of blogging at the end of each day, which is good (even if some entry ideas get cut short due to time). To a lesser extent, I was a little surprised when I realized that The Adventures of han has been a thing for a month now too.
I'm definitely not perfect when it comes to using this mentality with everything I do. As some of you know, my dishes get piled up a little too long until I'm using napkins for plates. I do try to incorporate this into work, but sometimes an urgent matter comes up that focuses my time away from things like managing my inbox & tidying the office.
This does seem similar to something I've blogged about before, the power of one. By doing a small task once, you're more likely to do it again in the future, and after a while, you'll see all of your little efforts built up into something admirable. Having a level of accountability is good since it helps keep you on track. (Case in point - I definitely wouldn't be written this often/much if it was just for my own posterity.)
On a random note, I was trying to think of a phrase to describe this mindset. I came up with "nickel & dime someone" and "making mountains out of molehills", which both seem negative. Any positive replacements? In any case, we can't forget the importance of taking things one step, task, or day at a time.
Today was No Selfies Day. I must say, I resisted temptation, but I can say that I did not take any selfies today. You may be wondering, "What about han?", but since I take his picture for him, we're both in the clear. I do appreciate the sentiment though.
