As a compliment of going to coffee with a co-worker yesterday, I spent a chunk of tonight in a Google Hangout with a number of friends that I have across the country. During the summer I first got to know them, we would do Google Hangouts pretty much every night because people had pretty open schedules, especially for those people who went to school and so didn't have much happening the summer. It had been a while since we had done much "in-person", so it was good to see and hear from people.
This group of friends definitely feels different than my college friends, for example. Less time is spent catching up on all of the crazy lives we have, and more on things in the news and stuff we find online. Tonight also included a couple of dance parties based on music people shared with the group.
It is nice to feel connected with people, even if I'm sitting in my apartment and the people in question are ones that I've only known for 1-1/2 years or so. It'll be nice to get something like that set up more often.
This kind of feels like cheating, but today is Wear Red Day and part of today's outfit was red, so it kind of works. Today is also National Doodle Day, Girl Scout Cookie Day, and Working Naked Day, but yeah, didn't really celebrate in any of those ways. Yeah... little awkward.
