Hey everyone. I've been living in this apartment for basically a year now and I don't feel like I utilize it as much as I should. I know this might be a shock, but I still have some boxes that haven't been fully unpacked even. (Cue the sarcastic responses.) However, I'm at the point where I do want to start sorting through that stuff and getting rid of the unnecessary bulk.
Coming from another angle, I didn't do much last year to host events in my apartment. Sure, I would have weekly staff meetings here since there's no other good spots in the building, but when it came to personal endeavors, I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for student staff and a potluck brunch for the Hall Directors and that was it. Similarly to the excess bulk, I simply just want to do fun stuff with people in my apartment more often. Fortunately, I've already been doing that with having Hall Director get-togethers here. Tonight was another time when I played host.
It's been a bit since I've gone to Gnome Games or Denny's so I had some of the gaming group over tonight. I've been over to some other peoples' homes before, so it felt only fair to reciprocate the hospitality. It ended up being just two guys and me, but we had a good evening of catching up and playing some games.
Before moving on, I did want to include a photo I took from one of the games we played. The game is Alhambra, which focuses around building a walled city with a variety of building types and (ideally) a long exterior wall. It was a tight game and even though I lost by one point, I'm happy with how my city turned out. Here's the picture:
It's a little tough to see since the table it dark, but my wall wraps around the city starting from the inside by the open area and then to the bottom white tile.
Anyways, I had a fun time playing host and I do want to have more get-togethers and game nights in the future. Part of my reasoning is that I have a pretty nice apartment, and I'm not sure what I'll end up with after I move out of Green Bay. So I might as well make the best of it while I'm here.
Tomorrow will be International Body Piercing Day, Log Cabin Day, and Descendants Day.
