Classes are done, July is nearly here, and the Future is now!?

Hey everyone. Well, the final retention project has been submitted, so I'm officially done with my first three classes of grad school. It hasn't quite kicked in yet, which I know it partially from not getting any grades back since halfway through the class. So... hopefully I've been on the right track with the papers and I should know for sure by mid-July.

On a different note, July is this week. That's nuts! Of course that means that it will soon be BBQ and Explosions Day... aka Independence Day. I should go and listen to some Sousa marches tomorrow. I'm sure my fellow Hall Directors won't mind. :P

But yeah, I'm finished with the three classes and starting tomorrow, I take on Student Development Theory. I know it'll be tough work (it's three credits, so I'm figuring it will the same magnitude of work as what I had been doing), but I think it'll be nice to just focus on one class. Then again, the class has very few assignments, so I know that will be some added stress. Oh, and we're going to use Twitter as part of the class, so that will be interesting.

Alright, I should wrap this up since it's late and I want to do a thing or two before work tomorrow. Oh, before I go into tomorrow's holidays, I forget to previously include that today is Tau Day!

*a few minutes later*

Okay, I got distracted, but I'm glad that I did because oh my gosh. YouTube has spherical videos! So I was thinking "oh hey, since it's Tau Day, I should pull up the song Vi Hart made about tau a few years ago" and when I pulled it up on YouTube, there was a video that put out today for Tau Day. Vi Hart does a lot of math-themed videos so it made sense and then once I clicked on it... Well, okay, I'm using Firefox, so once I clicked on it, I got the little blue bar that says "360degree video playback is not supported on this browser" and the title of the video is "360 Video for Tau Day". I thought it was a joke, but then a help page said it would work on Chrome and mobile apps. So I pulled the video up on my phone and oh my gosh, it's a spherical video. The Firefox version was all squished around (it is mapping the surface area of a sphere to a two-dimensional plane after all), but on the mobile app, you can move the phone around and the video pans with you. Try it right now. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3xOB-Bigc8

With that, I do need to get some sleep even though I'm legitimately tempted to watch more of Vi Hart's 360 vlogs. That will have to wait thought. Let's see - tomorrow will be Please Take My Children to Work Day, so I think I'm out a holiday... at least with the daily basis. It's been a while since I've looked at weekly/monthly observances though. We're still in the National Prevention of Eye Injuries Awareness Week (aka don't shoot fireworks at others' heads). Of course, there's a lot of monthly observances. (I just saw that June is National GLBT Pride Month. How fitting.) Anyways, June is Rebuild Your Life Month, and it starts with a single day. So let's do it!

DFTBA
