Alas, another Tuesday has come again.
But yet, I didn't have any of the meetings customary to previous Tuesdays.
Could I truly enjoy my Tuesday without the tradition of all-staff meetings?
Definitely - in fact, today was quite fun.
Evening activities included a potluck dinner at my supervisor's house, trivia at Applebee's, and a late-night movie in my apartment with a co-worker ("Erik the Viking").
Finally, a Tuesday with random fun in the evenings rather than tracking down students for wing meetings!
Gimmicks like the one I'm using now do feel silly, but hey, it's something different and I like the Tuesday tradition.
Holidays weren't too exciting on the daily level, although my hometown designates today as Youth Day (or at least it used to).
I think I'll go with Dairy Month today because one of my contributions for the potluck was my family chip dip, which is cream cheese based.
Just so I don't forget to say it later, I did drop some stuff off at the church for the rummage sale and I put my name forward to help with the Vacation Bible School in a couple of weeks.
Katie, the Director of Religious Education, was excited to have me come by and volunteer and while I'm kind of uncertain about it, I feel like I'll be able to help the program out.
Less momentously, I did hear back from my to-be education adviser and I have a meeting set up Thursday morning.
Math classes will be the challenge with my grad studies, since they are only offered once a week as a night class.
Now, I think night classes are nice, particularly for commuting students, but when my job is also at night, it feels like a conflict of interests.
Okay, let's not get into that now - I'll figure that out later, although hopefully not too much later.
Planning out a normal schedule is starting to move forward, but these late nights aren't really helping my cause.
"Quit staying up so late", you may cry.
Really, I do want to try to get into a normal routine with regular sleep/meal/exercise patterns.
Saturday is the next orientation session, so I do want to be awake and alert, even early in the morning.
The original plan for today's variety, by the way, was an open letter to the recent graduates, but I didn't want to feel rushed through it (since it is late already).
Usually, I would feel like graduation is the last time I see many of the students, but with more students friending me on Facebook, the physical distance seems less foreboding.
Verily, I do have the Internet to thank yet again for helping me keep in touch with people, provided I put an appropriate amount of time and energy into it.
Well, I should wrap this up since I'm hitting the end of the alphabet.
Xenophobes may be put off by the weird way I write my blog every Tuesday, but I'm glad you stuck around to get another daily update.
You will hear from me tomorrow with hopefully interesting things to talk about!
Zero percent chance of forgetting to end with DFTBA.
