Lazy... I'm lazy for feeling so--wait a minute.

One thing that I think can't be over-emphasized with personal & mental well-being is the importance of a lazy day. While you may kick yourself for getting nothing done, we all have those times when we need to veg out and let some stress out. My girlfriend Michelle has been on campus since last night and today was a lazy day of sorts for us. We both slept in since I didn't have to go into the office, and after a late breakfast, we played Lego Marvel for a good chunk of the day

(Side note: If you know of any of the Lego games that actually support online co-op rather than say it on the box, but don't deliver, please let me know. We've played through Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga together and are fairly close to 100% on our save file.)

Since Michelle and I only see each other once a month, we could have booked the whole weekend straight with activities and going out to Green Bay businesses, parks, and museums, but we honestly just enjoy spending with each other when it doesn't require webcams and praying for Skype to cooperate. She did come with to Into the Woods yesterday, and we have some stuff planned for tomorrow (including the weekly game so she can meet some of the others who I've gotten to know at least a little of), but at the same time, lazy day. It's all about finding that balance.

Of course, I also try to have that lazy day/me time when Michelle isn't here, so it's just me playing video games or watching YouTube or whatever. When it is just me, I'm more likely to kick myself for wasting a Sunday, but I've been on the other side when I haven't had time to think and I get really tense and strung out.

So, the thing to take away is that we all need lazy days. Some people will need it more often than others and that's okay. Some may take a Sunday off, while others decompress the hour after getting home from work each day, and both of those are okay too. You're a human being above all else.

Michelle and I went to dinner at Red Robin today, so I'll have that be our tip of the hat to Meat Week which ends on Sunday. Nom nom to delicious burgers, I say. Nom nom.

DFTBA
