Get Outdoors while the Amazing Weather is Around!

Let me just start out by saying that today was just gorgeous! Michelle and I wanted to capitalize on the good weather, so we ended up spending all day out and about. After crepes for brunch, we went to the conservatory/botanical gardens. There are a lot of cool plants  (including a couple themed rooms, like desert and Amazon rainforest), although the outdoor section felt like a large open area with trees/plants evenly distributed without much shade. There was a wedding going on today, and it couldn't have been better weather.

Oh! There was also this awesome glass blower who was giving demonstrations on making hummingbird feeders. He made the whole process look so easy, but it was clear that he has been at the craft for years.

After that, we went to German Village for some exploring. Bookloft was having a big push with clearance books so Michelle each picked up one (mine is a biography on Charles Schultz). We then heard the distinctive sound of a group of bagpipes and drum which was part of another wedding. Bagpipes in the German Village felt a little mismatched, but it was still entertaining. We went to a local coffee shop for an afternoon snack and then to Schiller Park.

Schiller Park definitely feels like a park since there's space to run, read in the shade, play frisbee, feed the birds  (even though a sign says not to), etc. This is also the site for the summer Shakespeare in the Park series although this summer season wasn't being advertised yet.

We considered a third park, but decided to go straight to Easton (a huge area with outdoor shopping and dining) for dinner and planning evening stuff. We went to "Pies & Pints", so we split a build-your-own pizza and shared some pints of international beer. After dinner, Michelle and I did a little shopping but ended up chatting about life sitting at the big fountain.

The last piece of the day was meeting one of Michelle's friends at a wine bistro for wine and dessert. The wind got a little chilly (we had been sitting outside),but otherwise it was a fun little outing.

There were a couple little things scattered here and there, but Michelle and I are both exhausted from all of the walking and time out in the sun. With that said, the bed is calling.

I didn't get to do much with today's holidays, but tomorrow is Bicycle Day, National Garlic Day, and  National Hanging Out Day. Good times ahead.
