Long Day of Work = Short Blog Post

My first thought is that there's not much that happened at work today. We had the third RC candidate interview with us and I was the host so I facilitated the building tour and checking in in general. Our final candidate is in town right now for her on-campus interview tomorrow, so in less than a week's time, we will have made our decision on who we would like to join our team for next year.

In terms of the holidays, today was another un-inspirational* day. Hopefully I didn't use this holiday already but May is Revise Your Work Schedule Month. Today was the last day of the ELMS projects, so I made sure to be there and send the group off. For the Robotics ELMS, I helped with the inspection on the robot the students built in three weeks and while there's a ways to go, I feel like it was a good experience for the first-year students. The programming ELMS had a final tournament with the robots they had programmed and there were some underdog victories from one robot that mainly drove in circles almost constantly firing at its enemy.

After the ELMS projects and dinner, I worked the desk for a while and it felt like "Revise Your Work Schedule Month" because our original scheduling forgot to plan for one of us driving to the airport to pick up tomorrow's RC candidate. So, we made some changes on the fly and everything worked out in the end. That's definitely something I appreciate about this job - people are willing to be flexible in order to make sure the students have the services and resources that they need/deserve/want.

*Probably not a real word, but I'm not too torn up inside about the fact.

Oh, before I move on from the topic of holidays, did you know that today was the last day of school? I know, I'm surprised too, especially since it's a Thursday. A week ago, I got some breakfast at Sonic and my bag of food included an insert for 50 cent corn dogs all day May 23rd for National End of School Day. Sadly, I was not able to take students due to all the stuff that went on, but hey, at least I will keep my eyes open for the holiday next year.

You know, I think I'm going to keep today's entry short. I don't want to blab on about work things and there are a couple of random topics I could go into, but I'm feeling kind of tired and could use a kick in the right direction when it comes to a decent sleep schedule. After typing that sentence, I had to go back and add two words to it to give the sentence actual meaning. It's not necessarily a sign that I'm tired (because I do like to words that are important, especially words like "not"... see what I there?), but it doesn't speed up the blogging process. Tomorrow should be a fun day and getting off-campus will be nice, even if it is for a quick airport shuttling. See you later. DFTBA.
