Dear all,
Yes, it's been over a week since my last entry. Things here have been pretty sweet. This weekend in particular has been a fun experience. Here's a little rundown:
Friday- after having twenty minutes of chamber singer rehearsal (when the class is 1 and 1/2 hours), Tess and I headed up to Bemidji. over this time, I used it to do some chem reading as well as sleeping (since traveling can knock me out, especially recently)--which entitled being licked by Emma (for those of you who don't know, that's my sis' German shephard). Then, we arrived home, and I finally got to do laundry since arriving at college! (my roommate lost an entite bottle of laundry soap... well, not "lost", more like "left it in the laundry room for over three days so it could be in Canada for all I know")
Saturday- my sis' big day! for the past few months, she's been training for a marathon (running a marathon is on her 144), and saturday was the big day. Little did she know when she started that the Walker marathon was the toughest marathon in all of Minnesota (26.1 miles of continous hills, slopes, highway, mud, sinkholes, and bumps--and the last half-mile is a straight sprint uphill). She did amazingly well (especially since before Saturday, the most she had run at one time was 18 miles), getting 64th out of over 78 (we think that they stopped timing at 6 hours), and getting a time of 5hrs 40mins (she was expecting over 6hrs). Her first comment about the race? "The first 20 miles were easy" Yeah, my sister is amazing. Oh, and she was one of the most energized people after the race that I saw. After that fun adventure, we headed back to B-town, went to church with Mum, ate, and then headed back to the Twin Cities (and I once again did chem and sleeping... yeah, I was really behind in chem... at least the first four chapters are review).
Sunday- RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL!!! Huzzah! Okay, granted the fact that I only slept four hours Sunday morning, I was still pretty excited about going to ren fest. Oh, and yes, during the "hour-long" ride (which was more like a half hour going there), I did chem. (bleh. I didn't even get to talk to the alchemist there.) So let's see; here's a list of stuff that I did: won a t-shirt for being on the winning grape stomping team (we, the 'grapes of wrath', whooped the 'stinky feet'), was almost tied to a maypole for a fraternity ritual twice (since it was the "Wine, Romance, and Chocolate Weekend", and I say twice because two of the dancers wanted me to go up there, but since I was with my sister, as opposed to a girlfriend--that I don't have--it was best that I didn't go up there), had some neat flatbread pizza, heard a high school madrigal choir (not the best, but hey, I'll give them props) heard an incredible harp player (who's also a U of M student apparently) and saw a joust, the wench show, the mud show, human combat chess, the royal parade, as well as all the medievel regulars, like the village idiot, crazy man, vendors, man who scares easily, scholar, fairy, scribes, knights, etc. Oh man, it was so awesome!
Well, it's been a great weekend, but I should start to get my paper ready for English on Tuesday (now that's my big concern, once chemistry was taken out of the "do right now or death will ensue" picture). People should visit or call (although my cell phone has been acting quite stupid, so call my dorm room), because then we could plan something and that'd be fun. :-) So, yeah, talk to everyone later, have a wonderful time, take care, and God bless.
