'ELLO ALL!!
Oh man, yesterday rocked! To take it back a little bit, Jennifer (one of the YA's) and Jessie (one of my best friends back from high school) who both attend St. Ben's (the same building and floor even) have been planning an "Ambush Matt Day" for a while. About a week ago, I was going to dinner with some people on my floor and Lauren (another YA), and she accidentally blurted out that Jenn/JJ had been contacting Mike (my roommate) about when would be a good day for this ambush day. So, after that night, I found out when would be the actual day but nothing other than that (ie time or activities).
To put it back into the U of M context, this past week has been midterms, which can be described in two words: evil death. (To see this full explanation, go to Beth's blog @ blogspot.com) Anyway, physics was my last midterm on Friday, so that night meant that all of IT ppl could just stay up as late as we wanted... so in the end, it was six other people, including my two neighbors from 713, and myself finally going to bed at pi time. (If you think that's bad, don't even get Chris Tervo started on his math jokes.)
Anyway, I got up yesterday morning at around 11, and 20 minutes later, I get this phone call which basically consisted with "go get lunch somewhere", "don't come back for a half-hour" and "leave your room unlocked". (pause for pondering thoughts) Since I knew it was Jennifer and JJ, I decided to comply, and I'm glad I gave them an extra ten to fifteen minutes, because just as I was coming up, I could hear them finishing up and closing the door.
I walk into my room and find them among red and white balloons and streamers taped to my bed and computer (their school colors are red and white... go figure). The three of us hung out for a while in my room, which included showing me the Stuebenville 2004 DVD with me dancing on stage, looking at each other's facebook.com groups, and me looking up and printing the 8 entries on dictionary.com for the word 'gnat'... don't ask. Then we decided to head to Jenn's house to have some food and to hang out. Let me tell you, it was so awesome there. I got to listen to Jen's variety show acts, we had a rocking bon fire, and JJ and I had English accents for at least two hours that night (which further resulted for us to attempt to send a dessert order to every plane flying overhead... us being Jessie, myself, and Ms. fantastic, forest, snake-burning, gimp-horse-eating, ape-man-burning-contemplating, runner-over-of-bodies-er, thief, lady, forest, girl, wood, girl... girl). One reason we had to have a bon fire (I mean, besides it's really fun, and it reminded me-and probably JJ-of Bji) is that it was homecoming for Jennifer's brother. We were really tempted to stay down there when those people came and yell 'hand check' every five minutes. In the end, we didn't, but instead fell asleep watching Joseph in Jenn's room (if anyone from Bji could tell me how the musical is going, that'd be great).
So, I woke up this morning and after a few seconds of looking around Jennifer's room, a thought popped into my head: "it's sunday... I work on sunday.. that means I work today". OH CRAP! I couldn't see a clock and based on my time perception, I was guessing anywhere between 8:00 and 1:00. Fortunately, I saw that it was 9:30, I didn't have to be at work until 11:00 and when I started to move around, Jenn woke up and she told me that it was a 20 minute drive or so to get back to Middlebrook. PHEW! After some poking and such, we were able to wake JJ up, and get back on the road. We were able to get back to Middlebrook soon enough, and after some sad goodbyes, I basically packed up and headed right to work.
Well, that's my ambush story... thank you for everything Jessie and Jennifer. I'm really glad I got to see you two... so, JJ, still on for that road trip to see our favorite Gusty? To everyone else, I hope everything is going well. I would go into more detail about... stuff, but I have to be across campus in a guy's dorm room in about 20 minutes for my physics lab due tomorrow--please beat physics into submission for me. I hope to hear from people soon. Talk to everyone later, take care, and God bless.
