Things are certainly piling up and time is running out. I tried out an analogy with mashed potatoes and a snowball fight in a conversation with a friend, but I'll spare you that. The meaning of it was to say that as I get closer to moving, it feels like I have more to do each day.
The math class has moved past all the stuff that I've looked at from a hodgepodge of other classes and has now entered the "completely new concepts you've never seen before" part of the book (well, pieces could have been in my complex analysis class, but it all seems new to me). Since this is happening on the final week of the class, my motivation has noticeably dropped. There's another student who is going through a lot of crap which includes having to move down to the Cities on Saturday, so she and I both are thinking about all the stuff we have to do before moving rather than 100% focusing on the material. Fortunately, I feel confident about my public key cryptography presentation tomorrow. I was hoping to have a hand-out with some additional problems and stuff like that, but that will just get chalked up to "things I could have done with better planning". (Plus, my cryptology textbook was moved to MO before I knew I would want it. If I do something with the students down there, I'll have a great jumping off point.)
Construction continues outside the house, with it feeling more like a war zone each day. You can definitely tell where our property ends because everything else is now gone (the sidewalk, boulevard, curb, trees, and street) and replaced by giant dirt piles and holes. Our house continues to shake constantly from early morning to the evening from all the cranes, steamrollers, plows, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment. They even gave us the treat of breaking our water line this evening. Fortunately my dad was home, watched them do it, warned us, and reminded them to turn the water back on after they fixed it. Even still, I've been advised to drink bottled water for the rest of my time here.
The core thing that's punching me in the brain (wonderful image, huh) is that I still have a crapload of packing to do. I know I'll have an empty car trunk and I have empty boxes waiting to have clothes and other things thrown in, but the packing just hasn't been happening, really. I did get stuff packed this weekend though, and I do have stuff down there... so it's not like I have to pack up every single thing or it doesn't come with me.
Well, once I finish my presentation tomorrow, that's done. I'll take tomorrow to pack, have dinner with a h.s. friend to say goodbye to her, try to figure out a send-off gift for a friend going into NET, do homework, try to burn off some tasks I need to do before MO... and pack.
Wish me luck.
