Tutti Fruiti Rocks Totino or How I Learned to Appreciate My Mother

Okay so I like weird titles for my blogs... it's a quirk I guess. :-P

My weekend was pretty good. Yesterday, my mom and I went to the Totino-Grace show choir competition and watched all the finals performances. Bemidji got grand champion, best choreography, and best combo, while Urbandale got 1st runner-up, best vocals, best show (which meant they were first going into finals but I heard word of a tie from various people), and best male and female soloists, so congratulations to both Bemidji and Urbandale (also for the JV groups, Urbandale got 1st and Bemidji got 2nd).

Today was the choir concert at the St. Paul Cathedral. It was a little different this year because it featured chamber singers, concert choir, men's choir, and women's choir (last year was just chamber singers and concert choir), but I like it better this way, and it's a chance for more grad students to conduct groups as well. Our first piece of the concert was arranged for three choirs, where men's and women's choir was up by the altar, the concert choir was in the back balcony as the echo choir, and then chamber singers was in the sarcristy (yes, we weren't actually in the same room as everyone for this one) as an echo... echo choir. I hope it got the effect Kathy and Matt M were going for. So yeah, today was proof of why I don't tell people when my concerts are... no one comes. Okay, I need to re-phrase that: I was really glad my mom drove down here for the weekend, and that she, Tess, Brian, and Carol all came for the concert (I was really only expecting my mom to be there, since I thought the other three would be busy). What I was going at before was that no one that I knew from college came. Okay, this is the point where like five things come into my head at the same time, so I'm just going to stop that there.

My week looks fairly decent. There's a theatre exam on Thursday and then the class is seeing Pope and the Witch that night. Now, before anyone says anything, I don't like when people tell me what I should think about something, so please don't do that. Also, I try to live my life where I don't form an opinion on something until I have enough knowledge about that something, so I don't know what it'll be like until I see it on stage (since I haven't read the script before or anything like that). Other than that, there's a sociology paper due on Friday, but everything else just goes on as normal... until spring break! Yeah, our spring break is next week (same as BSU's), and I'll be heading up to Bemidji on Saturday I believe (getting a ride with ryan and jessie h), so I'll be up for a bit. If people are up for getting together, let me know.

Well, I should wrap this up. Mike went to bed early and I couldn't sleep, so that's why I'm blogging now, but now I'm starting to feel sleepy... mission accomplished. :-) Hope everyone is doing well; good luck with any upcoming midterms/papers/diseases/flag warfare/etc. Talk to everyone later, take care and God bless.
