Hello everyone,
Wow, to think that it's been three weeks since my last blog post... I didn't realize it was that long ago. Well, things have been pretty well. The week or two before spring had my St. Paul cathedral concert (which was amazing!), the end of phase 1 of midterms, and a busy student's retreat at my church which was also really enjoyable. For spring break itself, I just went back to Bemidji to relax. On one hand, I didn't get to see that many people, but on the other hand, it was nice to get away from the hustle & bustle of the Cities and let some things get out of my head (or at least off of the front burners). I've now been in the Cities again for a week after spring break, and I'm hopefully gearing myself for next week. Yeah, I have two midterms next week as well as some other applications, and I should really figure out my schedule for next year soon.
*Good news Section* I figured that since I had several items of good news to share, I should lump them together. The biggest item of good news is that I got a Community Adviser position with the University; the only thing that made it better was that I got a position with the Honors Living Learning Community in Middlebrook Hall!! I was kind of shocked when I got the email, but I can't wait for next year. On my floor, there were seven people (well, six counting Sara who basically lives on my floor) and we all got CA jobs... five of us got Middlebrook Honors even! The other two people got jobs in Sanford, so now I have a reason to visit there more.
Another considerable piece of good news is that as of this Thursday I got my theatre test score back... it was actually decent for it being a essay test. So in other words, all the first midterms for my classes were at least a B (two of them were A's even).
I need to talk this next item over with my family, but I might have a good summer job lined up months in advance for once. :-P It would be counseling for a Catholic Youth Camp which is kind of halfway in between here and Bemidji. Like I said, I still want to talk to my family about it, but it sounds like a good job for me, especially for the summer before I start being a CA for college kids.
Oh, another (many not so impressive with other people, but still good with me) piece of good news is that a friend of mine from the floor bought some laptops online and mine should be ready with a few days. It's not very extravagent, but it's super-light and it could become an easy alternative to notes for some classes (it would be a little harder for math classes), or to use during car trips (except that it doesn't have the longest battery life).
So yeah, all of that good news has happened in the past 3 days or so... so life is pretty great right about now. :-) It's been pretty warm in the Cities (well, in comparison to mid/late March), so walking around campus has been beautiful. Mike's been busy at work with computer stuff as usual, although our room has been warming up because of his mini-space heaters (aka computers that are rendering non-stop). Last night, Aubree, Brittany P and I went to Gophers After Dark and Aubree decorated some picture frames, we took a nice trip to the land of Oz and got our picture taken, and I found an American version of a European card game that I played last summer. There was a guy from Middlebrook who tagged with the three of us after a little while because he knew Brittany through his brother, and I figured I should practice my CA skills. :-P He seemed cool, although he was kind of soft-spoken (which didn't fare so well in a loud environment and my worse-than-average hearing).
Well, I should either start on studying for the midterm on Monday... or go outside because it's raining. Don't worry, I'll probably do a combination of both. I hope everyone is doing well. Talk to everyone later. Have an awesome weekend!
