my sister, the doctor

Hello everyone,

The biggest news idea that's happened recently is that Tess learned that she passed the boards exam, so now she's a full fledged doctor of veterinary medicine. Yay Tess! :-)

Like I said in my last entry, I saw the Vocalmotive dinner show Saturday night. The solo acts were all really good, and everyone put all their energy into the full show, right from the beginning (during my senior year, judges on more than one occasion commented on how our show had the best energy on the final song). I was only in town for one day, so I really didn't get to see anyone, although I did see a few familiar faces (heh, alliteration) at the school itself.

I certainly met a lot of people yesterday... after discrete, I went to an "audition" for a theatre class/production that all take place after spring break. I didn't really know anything going into it (I heard about it via theatre lecture), but basically, I would be working with the other people in the class (yes, it's an actual 2-credit class), as well as other theatre classes and the community to make a production about this historic building in the West Bank area. I was definitely put at ease when I heard that two of the other people there were a first-year and second-year (and also in the theatre class). It definitely sounds like an interesting endeavor... a good deal different from my PBP and high school experience. :-P Then, after that meeting, I went right over to Sanford Hall (first time in that building) for my first CA workshop. Most people refer to it as CA training, but it's actually a workshop... we haven't been picked yet... this is our test/extended interviewing process. We mainly did ice-breakers/team building activities (human knot, building a water-holding device while blind/no-handed... right...), which was nice to meet the people, and more so than just "my name is so and so and I like this and that". More like, "okay, so you should step over this set of arms... what's your name again?" It seems like a nice group of people. After that, I went with two of the people in my workshop to late night at Centennial (since I didn't have time for food before or after the theatre meeting).

Well, I survived this week, in the sense of math homework, math homework, CA workshop, and theatre class/stuff. I have a decent-sized Sociology reading tonight... even though we don't have lecture tomorrow (I do have my first discussion tomorrow for that class). Also, I...hey. I don't have soc lecture so I can go to Early Music Ensemble for the entire time. It'd be a good thing to do for the first day. Oh, and it turns out that the guy (out of one guy and three girls) at the theatre thing last night is also in EME.

That pretty much sums it up when it comes to events and happenings... Outside of classes and such, things are going well for the most part. Work has been going well... I was training in a girl this morning... and yes I've been getting up for my morning shifts and not sleeping through them. Hopefully I can use the breaks in my schedule (like right now, between theatre and math... which in total is about 4 hours) for productive stuff like reading rather than just doing random stuff online. This semester will definitely be less math/science, but considerably more reading/papers/analyzing text/etc. Well, I should wrap this up and maybe do a little cleaning before Mel and I head over to prob-stat.
