MusiCamp and Young Apostles... I miss people

Okay, I know that I put MusiCamp in the title of my blog for the fourth time in a row (and seeing on how this is my fourth blog ever...), but at least it wasn't just that. Actually, I'm going to explain the second part of the title first... Just listen, k?

Every year, the College of St. Scholastica in Stuebenville, Ohio (edit: it's actually the Francisan University of Steubenville) hold these Catholic youth gatherings in like 12 spots all over the country. With that, a group of 20-40 kids are selected to come the week before the weekend gathering and be a Young Apostle. When you're a YA (pronounced both 'why-aie' or simply 'yah'), you spend the entire week before the conference with the other YA's doing stuff like community service, Bible study, daily mass, and other such stuff to get us ready for the weekend and to have us bond more as a family. Oh, and we figure out the choreography to the theme song (each conference is therefore different in that way). Well, if you couldn't tell, I was YA, and I went through this week last summer. During this week, the YA's for this year's conference are getting ready and some of the YA's in my group (Stuebenville North 2004 YA) are there and are helping with serving dinner and such (you know, they are serving the servers). Well, earlier today, four (out of the 31 from last year) got to St Thomas (the university in the Cities where they hold SN 2004 every year) and decided to call up people. So, I get this out-of-the-blue call from four of the 30 other people that were my family for a week last year. How cool is that? Since I'm up here in Little Forest Oasis, MN, I haven't seen the other YA's since my escapades in show choir and the NYE/NYD party in Becker... everyone else either lives in the TC's, or out of state, like ND, SD, OH, TX, DE, CO, LA, WI... you get the picture.

Okay, that was my speel (and yes Chris, I know that speel comes from the German word for game) about YA's, and I just want to say that I miss all the YA's and also all the MusiCampers that are out there. This year rocked! Speaking of MusiCamp, here by popular demand are the MusiCamp 2005 Quotes! (I have an entire napkin full of quotes so I'll try to weed out some stuff) Oh, and I rolled all the band, choir, and various quotes into one list, so if you were at one camp, you'll probably see stuff you don't remember.

"Hey Billy, pick a note" *insert two very whiny dissonent male falsetto notes* - Sam
"In the beginning, there was nothing. God said 'Let there be light' and... there was still nothing. But at least you could see it." - Matt M.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH" - many people (this would either be Joe, Chris, myself, Tommy, or countless others screaming out in pain... or Chris screaming while playing Bust-A-Move... or Ellen during the Phantom of the Opera duet between me and Signe)
"... ah screw it" - Joe (during his solo the day before our finale concert when he forgot all the words)
"Boy, we sure looked suspicious." - a very sleep deprived Chris
"OR TENORS!" - Bass II's, Chris, Joe, and me
"Where's Matt? MATT!!!!... Oh, I remember where he is now... go to bed" - Graham's room check (to Chris when I was gone)
"Okay guys, it's past 11... get some sleep" - Josh's room check (bear in mind that we had to have lights out at 10:30)
"Chop chop" - Dr. Logan (dreaded by Joe because that was the cue to get repetitive kidney shots from Josh)
anything German... and I mean anything - Chris (he could go the entire week in German if he wanted)
"(fill in the blank) on a stick!" - me (but it was shortly ended when Joe threw my stick through a fence into a tennis court and yelled 'tennis court on a stick!')
"Look, I can play the doubled reeded French horn!" - Amber
anything Lars said... which I won't repeat online because it'd be given a PG-13 rating... if he's lucky
"Somebody's going to die/ (insert name), you will not survive the week." - me, Joe
"You will suffer large painful kidney stones." - me, while heavily salting someone's food
"I only died once tonight." - me, before the band skit night (during the choir skit night, I died 4 times)
"Abbrree...?" - Josef, me, Chris, Joe (the Spanish word for open... all I'm going to say is Dora the Explorer)
"HHHHEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!" - Lindsey, me, our entire group at meals, half the whole band group)
"Happy Fondling Friday!" - Amanda, Sara... more words dreaded by Joe during band week (and Chris and I had plungers then)
"I feel used like a book." - Josef
"There's potato in my frisbee." - me (uh... if you don't know, maybe you shouldn't ask)
"Let's play Mau!" - Brittany, Lindsey... quite a few people actually
"Trinadad..." - a choir counselor piece... and then Chris during band week... the entire week...
"Where's the fifth bon bon?" - me, Joe, Chris
the word "chicken" - Ted (don't ask)
"and forward and forward and forward and back and back and back" - Dr. Logan during shoulder rolling
"Ziggy buggy do!" - an Internet movie Chris, Joe, and I saw between camps
"MORTAL KOMBAT!" - Andy, during our Bass section skit (which rocked!)
"I'd like a pentatonic doorbell surprise to go!" - Andy, while planning Theory III skit
"O CANADA... with lots of pine trees!" - Andy's take on the Canadian national anthem
"Andy!!" - Chris, Joe, and me when we saw Andy one day after choir camp finished
"pepper monster?" - Sam... who had a knack of freaking Amber out when holding a pepper dispenser
"What's the difference between a baritone and a euphonium?" - one of Matt M's bad band jokes (the answer is 'I don't care either')
"What's the difference between a baritone and a tuba?" - one of Mark's simple jokes (A: the tuba's bigger!)
"Trays in!" - me, making room for the 10th+ person at the lunch table
"No... no... jus... just... just....... just no" - me
"no knives, no storeroom, no war! ... wait, yes war, no storeroom!" - Joe, me (what Dan should have said during our War skit)
"oh yes, because whenever there's an axe murderer outside my door, I always sin(g)NOO!!" - one of the college tenors during Go Where I Send Thee
"so Hanna has your bone", "I like skittles" - Hannibone, the trombone section movie in 2004
"Don't forget the Mexican spices!" - Chili Com Carne, Matt M's h.s. senior movie... and then Chris quoting it...
"Vuke, I am your father!" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... you're not" - me and Sam during our random pliskay
"Good morning Scuttle... Skittles!" - me, to Chris... don't ask
"Slow down! You're driving too fast!" - Scuttle and Mini-Me... I mean, Chris and Lindsey
"(fill in the blank) ATTACK!" - me and Joe, usually directed at each other (the blank included frisbee, stick, tray, peppermint, pepper, bowling ball, and yoga ball)
"I like apples!" Joe, while slugging me in the arm... usually a response to an ATTACK! from me
"I would fly over someone's head, turn into a rock, and land on them." Nick, talking about his 'dream' superpower
"there's a guy with a plunger on his face" - some random person in the cafeteria after Josef walked around with... well, you know
"Then Elishia left the town to head to Bethel. On the way, some youths came out of a town and mocked him. 'Go up there, baldy!' they shouted. 'Go up there, baldy!' Elishia turned around, glared at them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two she-bears emerged from the nearby woods and tore forty-two of the boys to pieces." - 2 Kings 2:23-24 by far the most recited Bible verses at choir camp
"It was Sam/ Sam did it." - everyone except Sam, since he's the ultimate scapegoat. :-)
"Where's Nathan?" - me to Sam, who would usually respond "Yes, where is Nathan?"
"I like shiny things." - Lars, in the Bass skit, and then Billy, in the trombzoo skit... and then quite a few people
"Dang spit!" - again, Billy, in the trombzoo skit...yeah, he played 'dumb tuba player' well...for not being dumb
"I like America! ... and kitties!" - Josh... he also played dumb well... but he was an all-time tenor (jk Joe)
"Oh, go eat yourself!" - Chris' threat to people during cards

O.m.goodness, that's a lot of quotes... and that's after editing out some stuff! Feel free to add to the collection if you remember something, but try to have it be something that I was involved in, if you don't mind. Okay, I hope everyone enjoyed that long string. Night!
